Fredric Tanuwijoyo (Fred)

Fred left his 70-hour a week corporate job to pursue his passion of traveling and turn it into his part-time job. He loves discovering unique destinations, being in nature, eating good foods, and connecting with people on a deeper level. Fred has traveled to more than 55 countries across 6 continents, and is on a mission to visit every country in the world. His friends know him as the guy who always plans the most interesting trips around the world, from riding snowmobiles in the Arctic region to swimming with whale sharks in Indonesia, his homeland.

What is your traveling style?

I like to switch things up every now and then. Some trips I like to be a little on the adventurous side like going on a week-long hike in Patagonia. Some trips I like to explore a new city, fully immersing myself in its urban and foods scene. Some trips I like to just splurge and relax at the beach.

What are your top 3 favorite destinations?

I think every destination is unique in its own way, but if I have to pick my top 3, they would be:

Iceland - the most breathtaking nature. I didn’t even know where to look when I was there. The sceneries were so surreal and ethereal. You can see erupting volcanoes, frozen ice caves, and the northern lights all in one place.

Lebanon - this country surprised me in so many ways. It is so incredibly rich in culture and history, and the warmth of the people touched my heart deeply. It’s definitely a gem in the Middle East waiting to be discovered.

Indonesia - my homeland is so rich in biodiversity. It’s one of the best places in the world to enjoy the boundless beauty of the underwater world. Whale sharks, manta rays, orcas, and even blue whales grace our waters.

What is next on your bucket list?

I’d love to visit every country one day, but hiking to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal, seeing the great wildebeest migration across the Mara River in East Africa, and swimming with the humpback whales in Tonga or Mo'orea are very high on my list right now.
